The problem

Sound familiar?

If one of these is you, you are in the right place. Tell us which one and we will come back with a price.

  • The safety switch keeps tripping
  • Power points on one wall have gone dead
  • Lights flicker, buzz or won't stay on
  • There's a burning smell near the switchboard
  • Something sparked when I plugged it in
  • Half the house lost power and I don't know why

What we do

What we actually do.

Tripping switches, dead power points, flickering lights. We find the actual fault and tell you what it costs before we fix it.

What's included

  • Proper fault finding — we test circuit by circuit, we don't guess
  • Nuisance tripping traced back to the actual appliance or circuit
  • Dead power points, switches and light fittings repaired or replaced
  • Burnt, loose or corroded connections made safe on the spot
  • Old two-core wiring and dodgy DIY work identified and reported
  • A written price before the repair starts, and photos of what we found

What fault finding actually involves

Most electrical faults hide. A safety switch that trips at 6pm every night is usually one appliance with moisture in it, not the switchboard. A dead run of power points is normally one loose connection in the first point on the circuit. Flickering lights can be a failing driver, a neutral that’s backed out, or a shared circuit that’s carrying too much.

So we isolate it. Circuits come off one at a time, we test insulation resistance and earth continuity, and we keep going until the reading tells us where the problem is. That takes longer than swapping parts until something works, and it costs you less, because you pay for the fix once.

What you get at the end

A repair that’s tested before we leave, a straight explanation of what was wrong, and photos if it’s somewhere you’d never see — inside the board, in the roof space, behind a fitting. If we find something else that isn’t safe while we’re in there, you’ll hear about it with a price, not a lecture.

If it’s not safe to leave, we make it safe first and sort the rest after. That part isn’t a negotiation.

Quoted before we touch a tool.

Electrical work gets quoted per job, so there is no honest price to put on a page — every house is different. What we can promise is that you see the number before anyone starts.

Request a Quote
  • A price in writing, first

We look at the job, then send the number. Nothing starts until you have said yes to it.

  • The price is the price

If we find something we could not see, you get a call and a revised number — not a bigger invoice at the end.

  • 10% pensioner discount

Just mention it when you send the job through and we will take it off the quote.

Who we work for

    • One crew for the wiring and the air con
    • We clean up after ourselves

Questions

The things people ask about this one.

Why does my safety switch keep tripping?

Because it’s doing its job — something is leaking current to earth and it’s cutting the power before that goes through a person.

Common causes: a faulty appliance (kettles, dryers and old fridges are regulars), water in an outdoor point or a light fitting, or damaged cable. Nuisance tripping under load usually points at one appliance.

Unplug everything on that circuit and reset it. If it still trips, stop resetting it and call us.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

Most work we quote up front, so there’s one number and no call-out on top.

Fault finding is the exception. Nobody can price a fault they haven’t seen yet, so that’s charged as a call-out plus time. We’ll tell you both numbers on the phone before we drive out, and once we know what’s wrong you get a written price for the repair before we start on it.

No surprises at the end. That’s the whole point of quoting first.

How soon can you get here?

Send the job through and we’ll call you back to book a day that suits you. How quickly we can get there depends on what’s already on the board that week, and we’ll tell you straight rather than promise something we can’t hit.

If something is unsafe — burning smell, sparks, a hot switchboard, water near wiring — don’t wait on a form. Turn the power off at the switchboard and ring us.

Do I get a certificate for the work?

Yes. Any new or altered electrical installation work gets a Certificate of Testing and Compliance, which is what says a licensed electrician tested it and it meets the standard.

You get a copy — keep it. A conveyancer, an insurer, a building certifier or a property manager will eventually ask for it, and it is much easier to hand over than to chase up years later.

Builders get theirs as the work is completed so nothing holds up handover.

My switch and power point covers are cracked and yellow. Can you replace those?

Yes, and it is one of the cheapest things you can do to a house. The cover plate is the part you touch and look at every day, and swapping a room’s worth of cracked, sun-yellowed ones for new white or matt black takes a fraction of the time people expect.

It is worth doing while we are there for something else — the labour is already on site, so you are mostly paying for the plates. If a plate comes off and there is something behind it we are not happy with, we’ll show you a photo and tell you what it needs before we do anything about it.

Why AWSM

Two trades, one crew, no excuses.

Most jobs need a sparky, an air con bloke, or both. You get both from the same team — one quote, one invoice, nobody to blame.

Owners on the tools

Dylan and Hayden own the business and turn up to the jobs. The person who quotes it is the person who does it — or the bloke standing next to them.
