Dylan and Hayden own the business and turn up to the jobs. The person who quotes it is the person who does it — or the bloke standing next to them.
Meet the crewAir Conditioning
A unit that has stopped cooling is one of about five things, and only one of them is expensive. We diagnose it properly and tell you what it costs to fix before we touch it.

The problem
If one of these is you, you are in the right place. Tell us which one and we will come back with a price.
What we do
Not cooling, icing up, leaking, tripping the switch or flashing an error code. We find out what is actually wrong before anyone quotes you a new one.
What's included
The reason air con repairs get a bad name is the order most people do them in: guess, replace a part, charge for it, guess again. We do it the other way around. Gauges on, electrical readings taken, error codes read, airflow and temperatures checked — then you get told what is wrong and what it costs, and you decide.
Four faults cover most of what we see. A filthy indoor coil that cannot move air, which is a clean rather than a repair. A refrigerant leak, which needs finding rather than topping up. A dead capacitor or fan motor in the outdoor unit — common, and not expensive. Or a control fault, where the system is doing exactly what something has told it to do.
Only one of those is a big job, and you should know which one you have before you spend anything.
A split system is sealed. The refrigerant does not get consumed, so a unit that is low on gas has a leak — full stop. Pumping more in makes it cold for a season and then you pay again, having also paid for the gas that went into the atmosphere.
Handling refrigerant at all requires an ARC licence, which we hold (#106899), and recovering it rather than venting it is a legal requirement, not an option. So the process is: pressure test, find the leak, price the repair, and if the leak is somewhere that makes the repair uneconomic, say so rather than sell you a top-up you will be back for.
A lot of “air con faults” are electrical: a tripping safety switch, a failed isolator, a circuit that was never right, a burnt connection at the outdoor unit. An air con technician has to call an electrician for those. We are both, so the diagnosis doesn’t stop at the pipework.
That cuts out the worst outcome in this trade — two trades on site, each certain it is the other one’s problem, and you paying for both to say so.
Zone motors, dampers stuck shut, a controller that has lost its mind, a fan coil in the roof making a noise it shouldn’t. Ducted faults take longer to find because the system is spread across the house, but the approach is the same: find it, explain it, price it.
If your ducted system is old enough that parts are hard to get, we will tell you that early rather than after three visits.
Sometimes it isn’t. A compressor on a twelve-year-old unit, a leak in the indoor coil, or a leak in an old R22 system where the gas is being phased out and getting dearer — those are the ones where the money is better spent on a new unit. You will hear that from us with both numbers next to each other, and there is no hard sell attached to it. There’s a full rundown on the replacement page.
Air con work like this gets quoted once we know what we are dealing with — the unit, its age, where it sits and what is actually wrong. What we can promise is that you see the number before anyone starts.
Fault finding is a call-out plus time, and you are told both figures on the phone before we drive out. Once we know what is wrong, the repair itself gets quoted before we start it.

The price is the price
If we find something we could not see, you get a call and a revised number — not a bigger invoice at the end.

Who we work for
Three very different jobs, three different things that matter. Here's how we handle each one.
Someone who turns up when they said, does it properly and tells you the price first.
A sub you can put on the program and forget about. Rough-in to fit-off, on the day.
Fast make-safes, compliance that stands up, and an invoice your system will accept.

Questions
The four we find most: a filthy indoor coil that can’t move any air, a refrigerant leak, a failed capacitor or fan in the outdoor unit, or a control fault that has the system in the wrong mode.
Two of those are cheap and one of them isn’t, which is why we diagnose before we quote. Before you call, try the obvious one — pull the filters out and look at them. If they are furred over, a clean might be the whole job.
Probably not. A split system is a sealed system — the refrigerant doesn’t get used up, so if it is low, it has leaked out somewhere. Topping it up without finding the leak means paying for gas twice.
So we pressure test and find the leak first, then tell you what it costs to fix it properly, and what the alternative is if the unit is old enough that it isn’t worth it. Handling refrigerant needs an ARC licence — ours is #106899.
Our rule of thumb: if the unit is under about eight years old and the part is available, repair it. Past twelve, or if the fix is a compressor or a leak in the indoor coil, you are usually better off putting the money towards a new one.
The old R22 systems are the clearest ones. That gas is being phased out in Australia — bulk imports stop on 1 January 2030 and servicing runs on reclaimed gas after that — so a unit that leaks it is getting more expensive to keep alive every year. We tell you which side of the line yours is on and give you both numbers, then you decide.
Once a year for a home, and that is the one most people skip until the unit smells. Somewhere in autumn or early spring is ideal — before the season you actually need it, not in the middle of it.
Rentals, offices and anything running most of the day are usually twice a year. If the house has pets, a smoker, or you’re near the water, a unit fills up quicker than the manual thinks it will.
Why AWSM
Most jobs need a sparky, an air con bloke, or both. You get both from the same team — one quote, one invoice, nobody to blame.

Dylan and Hayden own the business and turn up to the jobs. The person who quotes it is the person who does it — or the bloke standing next to them.
Meet the crewGear we can get parts for in ten years, not whatever was cheapest this week. If you'd rather supply your own, that's fine too.
