Sick of a wall unit in every room and still having one that never gets cool? Ducted does the lot from the roof space, zoned so you only pay for the rooms you are actually in.

The problem
If one of these is you, you are in the right place. Tell us which one and we will come back with a price.
What we do
Zoned ducted systems for the whole house — one controller, vents instead of wall units, and only the rooms you are in costing you anything to run.
What's included
Every ducted job is a different house. The roof space decides where the indoor unit can sit and which way the duct can run. The ceiling decides where the outlets go. The number of zones, whether it’s single or double storey, how much glass is on the western side, where the outdoor unit can live without deafening a bedroom — all of it moves the price.
So we come out, get in the roof, measure up and work out the heat load room by room. Then you get a written price for the whole job, with the zones listed, before anything is ordered. A ducted quote off a phone call is a number somebody made up.
An unzoned ducted system cools the whole house whenever it runs, which is why people remember ducted as expensive. Zoning splits the house into areas with their own dampers — typically bedrooms, living, and anything out the back — so the system only sends air where you have asked for it.
In practice that means the bedrooms run overnight while the rest of the house sits closed off, and the living area runs through the afternoon while the bedrooms don’t. You are cooling a third of the house most of the time, which is where the running cost difference lives.
How many zones is a real decision, not an upsell: more zones cost more up front and save more later, and there is a point where another zone is not worth it. We will tell you where that point is in your place.
The indoor unit needs somewhere to sit with room around it for access, and the duct needs a run to every outlet without being crushed or kinked. Older Queenslanders with steep roofs are usually easy. Low-pitch roofs, flat ceilings and the ground floor of a two-storey are the ones that need thinking about — sometimes it’s a different unit location, sometimes it’s a split for that part of the house instead.
We go up and look before we quote. If your house is one of the hard ones, you will hear that from us with the alternative next to it, rather than finding out on install day.
If the walls are open, this is the moment. Duct runs, outlet positions and the electrical rough-in all go in before the plasterboard, the ceilings stay unmarked and the whole thing costs less than retrofitting the same system later.
We work with builders on exactly this — see renovations and new builds for how we run the electrical side of the same job. One crew for the rough-in and the fit-off, and we turn up on the day we said.
What it looks like
Nobody can price ducted off a web page and be honest about it — it depends on the roof space, the ceiling, how many zones you want and where the outdoor unit can go. Here is the shape of the job, and the number comes after we have been through the house.
3–4 zones
A single-storey home, bedrooms and living zoned apart
Indoor fan coil in the roof space, outdoor unit outside, one controller
Quoted after the site visit
5–6 zones
A bigger single storey, or a house with an extension on it
More zones means rooms you are not in cost you nothing to leave alone
Quoted after the site visit
Two storey
Upstairs and downstairs on their own zones
Usually two systems or a larger unit with a longer duct run — measured on site
Quoted after the site visit
Add-on
Extra zones or outlets on a system you already have
If the existing unit has the capacity, this is a half-day job
Quoted after the site visit
What a ducted job includes
The good bits
The house is split into zones you can run separately — bedrooms at night, living during the day. An unused zone is a closed damper, so it costs you nothing.
A vent in the ceiling of each room and one outdoor unit outside. No head units, no five remotes, and nothing to work around when you hang a picture.
A single wall controller runs the system, and most units take app control as well — so the house can be cooling before you get home instead of after.
The fan coil lives in the roof space, not on the wall of the room you are sitting in. Most of what you hear is air out of the vent.
Who we work for
Three very different jobs, three different things that matter. Here's how we handle each one.
Someone who turns up when they said, does it properly and tells you the price first.
A sub you can put on the program and forget about. Rough-in to fit-off, on the day.
Fast make-safes, compliance that stands up, and an invoice your system will accept.

Questions
Splits are cheaper to buy, cheaper to run one room at a time, and each head is its own system — if one dies the rest of the house is still cool. The trade-off is a head unit on the wall of every room you want done, and an outdoor unit for each one.
Ducted gives you one controller, vents instead of wall units and nothing to look at outside except a single outdoor unit. With zoning you only pay to cool the rooms you are in. It costs more up front and it needs the roof space to do it.
Doing three or more rooms is usually where ducted starts making sense. We will tell you honestly which way we would go in your house.
Usually yes — most of the ducted we do goes into houses that have been standing for years. What it needs is roof space: enough height and access to sit the indoor unit, run the duct and drop an outlet into each room.
Flat ceilings with no roof cavity, or a bottom floor under a second storey, are the ones that get hard. We go up and have a look before quoting rather than promising on the phone.
Sometimes. A split system needs its own circuit and an isolator, and an older board with no spare ways or no safety switches can’t give it one without work.
This is where a sparky installing your air con beats an air con bloke who has to call one. We check the board as part of quoting the job, and if it needs a circuit or an upgrade that is on the same quote — one crew, one day, one invoice.
Two things are covered, by two different people. The unit itself carries the manufacturer’s warranty — Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic and Gree all publish theirs. You register it with the manufacturer, and we leave you the invoice and model details you need to do that.
Our side is the workmanship: brackets, pipework, electrical connection, drains, commissioning. That carries a 5-year workmanship warranty from us. If something we did lets go, we come back and fix it.
It depends on the room size, the ceiling height, the insulation, how much glass there is and which way the room faces. A west-facing lounge with big windows needs more than a bedroom of the same size.
Undersized and it runs flat out and never gets there; oversized and it short-cycles and costs you more. We measure up and tell you what suits, rather than selling you the biggest one.
Why AWSM
Most jobs need a sparky, an air con bloke, or both. You get both from the same team — one quote, one invoice, nobody to blame.
