Meet the crewAir Conditioning
A split is the quickest way to make one room liveable, and the cheapest way to cool a house room by room. We size them, install them, wire them and leave the place tidy.

The problem
If one of these is you, you are in the right place. Tell us which one and we will come back with a price.
What we do
One room or a whole house of heads. Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic and Gree, installed and wired by the one crew, with the price in writing first.
What's included
A single split in the main bedroom is the most common job we do, and for a lot of houses it is all that’s needed — the room you sleep in, done properly, for a fraction of what cooling the whole place costs.
From there it scales. A second head in the lounge, a third in the kids’ room, each with its own outdoor unit and its own controller. Multi-head systems run several indoor heads off one outdoor unit, which saves wall space outside and suits a townhouse or a place where there is only one sensible spot for the condenser.
The trade-off worth knowing: with separate systems, one failure is one room. On a multi-head, the outdoor unit is shared, so a fault there takes the lot out. Neither is wrong — it depends on the house and the budget, and we will say which one we would put in.
High on the wall, blowing down the long axis of the room, with nothing in the way of the airflow. Not above a wardrobe that blocks half the throw, not over the bedhead where it blows straight down on you all night, and not on a wall where the pipework then has to travel the length of the house.
The outdoor unit has the same logic. Level, up off the dirt, room around it to breathe, out of the western sun if the block allows, and away from the neighbour’s bedroom window. Where it goes decides how long the pipe run is, which is the part of the price that varies most between houses.
If you send a photo of the room and a photo of the outside of that wall, we can tell you all of this before anyone visits.
Every split needs a dedicated circuit and an isolator. On most air con jobs that means a sparky gets subbed in, which is a second trade, a second visit and a second invoice — and the part where the finger-pointing starts if something is wrong.
We hold the electrical contractor licence (ECL 91702) and the ARC refrigerant licence (#106899) between us, so the circuit, the isolator, the install and the commissioning are all the same crew on the same day. If your switchboard has no room or no safety switches, we quote that with the rest of it, and you decide.
If there is already a unit on the wall, a changeover is usually simpler and cheaper than a fresh install — the hole, the cabling and often the pipework are there. Whether the old pipework can stay depends on what refrigerant it ran and what condition it is in, which is something we check rather than assume. There’s more on that on the replacement page.
The range
Four sizes cover most of what we get asked for. Each one is quoted as an installed price — unit, bracket, pipework, electrical connection, commissioning and the rubbish taken away — so the number you are given is the number you pay.

What every install includes
What costs extra, and when
None of it is a surprise: if your job needs one of these, it is on the written quote before anyone starts.
The good bits
One head, one room, one thermostat. You cool the room you are in and pay for nothing else — which is why splits suit houses where everyone goes to bed at a different time.
Wi-Fi is available across the range — handy for a rental or a holiday place, where you can see it is off from anywhere instead of driving back.
Modern inverter heads are near silent at low fan speed. If the unit you have now wakes you up when it kicks in, that is a sign of its age rather than how splits work.
A fixed-speed unit from fifteen years ago runs at 100% or 0%. An inverter idles at the load the room actually needs, which is most of the difference on the power bill.
Who we work for
Three very different jobs, three different things that matter. Here's how we handle each one.
Someone who turns up when they said, does it properly and tells you the price first.
A sub you can put on the program and forget about. Rough-in to fit-off, on the day.
Fast make-safes, compliance that stands up, and an invoice your system will accept.
How it works
Tell us what needs doing. Photos help.
Within a business day, from Dylan or Hayden.
A price in writing before anyone touches a tool.
You pick a day that works and we turn up on it.
Questions
It depends on the room size, the ceiling height, the insulation, how much glass there is and which way the room faces. A west-facing lounge with big windows needs more than a bedroom of the same size.
Undersized and it runs flat out and never gets there; oversized and it short-cycles and costs you more. We measure up and tell you what suits, rather than selling you the biggest one.
Splits are cheaper to buy, cheaper to run one room at a time, and each head is its own system — if one dies the rest of the house is still cool. The trade-off is a head unit on the wall of every room you want done, and an outdoor unit for each one.
Ducted gives you one controller, vents instead of wall units and nothing to look at outside except a single outdoor unit. With zoning you only pay to cool the rooms you are in. It costs more up front and it needs the roof space to do it.
Doing three or more rooms is usually where ducted starts making sense. We will tell you honestly which way we would go in your house.
A standard back-to-back install — indoor head on the wall, outdoor unit straight through the other side — is usually half a day. A couple of heads, a longer pipe run, a two-storey job or a new circuit off the switchboard takes the day.
We give you a start time rather than a window, and we put drop sheets down. When it’s finished we run it up, check the temperatures and show you how the controller works before we leave.
Back-to-back means the outdoor unit sits directly behind the indoor head, on the other side of the same wall. The pipework goes straight through, which is the shortest run and the least labour.
If the outdoor unit has to go around the corner, down the side of the house or up onto a roof, that is extra pipe, extra cable and extra time. It is not hidden — we look at where everything can go before we quote, and the price you get already has your house in it.
Two things are covered, by two different people. The unit itself carries the manufacturer’s warranty — Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic and Gree all publish theirs. You register it with the manufacturer, and we leave you the invoice and model details you need to do that.
Our side is the workmanship: brackets, pipework, electrical connection, drains, commissioning. That carries a 5-year workmanship warranty from us. If something we did lets go, we come back and fix it.
Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic and Gree are the ones we put in most. They are the brands with parts on the shelf in Brisbane and technicians who can get them, which matters more than the badge on the front when something goes wrong in five years.
We are not an authorised dealer for any of them and we do not push one over another. Tell us the room and the budget and we will tell you what we would put in our own place.
Sometimes. A split system needs its own circuit and an isolator, and an older board with no spare ways or no safety switches can’t give it one without work.
This is where a sparky installing your air con beats an air con bloke who has to call one. We check the board as part of quoting the job, and if it needs a circuit or an upgrade that is on the same quote — one crew, one day, one invoice.
Why AWSM
Most jobs need a sparky, an air con bloke, or both. You get both from the same team — one quote, one invoice, nobody to blame.

Dylan and Hayden own the business and turn up to the jobs. The person who quotes it is the person who does it — or the bloke standing next to them.
